Hello Collecting Friends,
My name is Steve and this my first rough, amateur attempt at sharing my childhood memories and collecting experiences within the hobby. First off, I want to state that I am NOT a writer. So, please excuse the typos and incoherent tangents.
As like many of you, I started collecting cards in the middle of the Junk Wax era. It all began with a couple packs of 89 Topps baseball cards given to me by my Mom. Between the cardboard and stale gum, I was hooked. I collected a lot of baseball, football and hockey through the mid-90s. By the time I got to High School, I drifted away from the hobby.
By my mid 20s, I started buying a few packs again. Before I knew it, I was pulled back in. I was dabbling in everything and it got to be too much. Now I mostly collect cards of my teams (Sabres, Bills & Red Sox) and cards from the best era, the Junk Wax era. These cards are cheap, abundant and are full of nostalgia.
With all of the extra cards from ripping 80s wax, I had to come up with another use for them. In late 2016, I stumbled on the TTM (through the mail) community. With help from some great friends on twitter, I began sending cards out for autograph. Now I eagerly check the mail each day for signed returns.
I want to use this page for sharing my experiences with the hobby and to connect better with the community. Between collecting cards from various decades and TTM writing, I have a lot that keeps be busy. Hopefully this will be a platform to share the journey along the way.
